The sun causes damage to conservatory furniture. At first you notice that the fabric is bleaching in colour which is gradual and you often don’t realise until you come to turn the cushions and swap them around. The fabric then perishes and tears in your hands. We have often had to piece it back to together to work from. New covers can really transform your conservatory. We can guide you on lighter colours which will show the bleaching less in the future and have even made throws in matching fabric to save the cushions. We can also repolish the frame work if it has faded.
Founded in 1907, Ercol Furniture has always made top quality furniture with a unique style equally for the contemporary or traditional setting. Both elegant and built sturdy to last in design and comfort, it’s one of the UK’s top furniture brands. At Abbey Upholstery, we restore furniture carefully in sympathy to the original Ercol standard. We work to replicate the original finish, and prefer to do things the Ercol way. We use Pirelli webbing and use the dowling technique when replacing torn, brittle and sagging webbing. We use press studs for cushion fixing and when we replace seat foam we achieve the same look of Ercol by retaining the domed effect on the cushions. All these little touches and techniques we have mastered over the years makes us an Ercol specialist who is also recommended by Ercol itself.
Established in 1947, Bridgecraft sofas are a world-famous Yorkshire furniture company, who’s furniture uses traditional techniques and high levels of craftmanship. If you’re looking to restore your Bridgecraft furniture after years of it serving you well, we can guide you on your fabric choice, and can offer both classic and modern options to create that ‘brand new’ look again.

This is an area we have expanded over the last few years, possibly because I love fabrics and can’t say no to new books! This is what truly transforms the look of your furniture.
I’ve tried to keep plenty of choice within the ranges that I stock, covering traditional styles and colours right through to vibrant plush velvets that are on trend (even though Dad says they never left!). I stock fabrics from local companies Ross Fabrics and Moons wools, Harlequin, Sanderson, Clarke & Clarke, Warwick, William Morris and Christina Marrone.
